Preparing your Outdoor Areas for Summer

With summer almost upon us, it’s time to start looking forward to those long summer nights, warmer days and most importantly, socialising in the garden. There’s nothing better than being able to enjoy the wonders of your garden throughout those summer months, and getting yourself prepared and equipped beforehand is so beneficial. Gardens are the perfect location for Barbeques, Garden Parties and even just to wind down, relax and read a good book, and it’s so nice to be able to do this in the comfort of your own home.

Preparation is key, how you prepare your garden will ultimately affect how you can enjoy it. Giving your garden a good clean is the first step to take, getting rid of any unwanted furniture that may have faded or broken over the winter, piles of leaves or general rubbish that gathers in the corners of the garden, and those half deflated footballs that have been neglected for numerous months. Removing this kind of rubbish will instantly lift the garden and give you an idea of what to target next. Trimming the trees/bushes and mowing the lawn is the next vital stage, to create a neat, crisp look and make your garden look inviting and fresh. You may even want to place new flagstones or pebbles in your garden, to create a seating area or even just a focal point for flowers and plants that stand out. If your garden has decking or a patio, giving this a good pressure wash will help you to bring back the life and colour, whilst making your garden look complete and ready for the summer.

If you’re the kind of person who loves a good get together with family and friends, you may want to look at introducing new features to your garden to accommodate your needs and requirements. Additional seating and space to eat is a really important thing to consider, having a nice table for those outdoor dinner parties or even just having enough seating to fit all of your guests comfortably, to enjoy the beautiful weather and a nice glass of ice cold Pimms! Other perfect additions would be features such as a fire pit, for when those evenings get slightly chillier, a BBQ, so that you can enjoy the great outdoors with a tasty BBQ style burger, or even adding a play area for your little ones to have fun whilst you enjoy your friends company.

The final thing to consider when preparing yourself for those summer months to come is what you need in your kitchen units. This may seem silly and not related whatsoever, but it’s actually very important. As much as your garden seems like the main attraction when it comes to summer, which it is, it wouldn’t really be as luxurious without all of the exotic drinks, tasty snacks and delicious foods you look forward to enjoying outside. Whilst preparing for a barbeque or dinner party may be more of a day before shopping trip, you can fill your cupboards up with all kinds of summery treats, from fresh fruit, crisps and light snacks, to filling your freezer with ice-creams, lolly’s and trays of ice to use in your summery cocktails.
